Family History Research

I offer a family history research service for England and Wales. I can do a single look-up in a parish register or on a census, or a complete family tree. As everyone’s requirements are different, with people’s ‘starting’ ancestors varying, or perhaps only wanting to know about a male line, it would be very complicated to give all the possible permutations here. However, I offer two family tree packages, which I have found are the most popular.
If this is not what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Hourly Family History Research

Hourly research for a range of requests, such as:

Online research of available parish registers.
Searching for an elusive ancestor on census.
Search of newspaper archives.
Research at Gloucestershire Archives.
Knocking down of ancestral brick walls.

You can also also set a budget for a family tree, which is not covered by the two packages I currently offer. You decide the line/s to be researched, let me know your budget and I will find out as much as I can in the research time purchased.

All research is undertaken promptly and as accurately as possible. Details of sources examined and results, both positive and negative, will be sent to you via email.

Plus expenses at cost where applicable, such as:

Parking fee at Archives.
Archive camera licence or photocopying costs.
Civil Registration Certificates required.
Postage costs (if required).

These fixed-price family tree packages are available for post-1837 individuals. I will use civil registration indexes, online parish records (where available) and census records to compile your family tree. I include a set number of civil registration certificates for each package and can obtain any additional birth, marriage and death certificates if you require them (payment for which will be required in advance). Please note, I do not use the family trees compiled by Ancestry-users to obtain information, since I know many of them are totally incorrect! I will do my upmost to be as accurate as possible, and the purchase of civil registration birth and marriage certificates are the best way to ensure accuracy, but I do understand this is not always within a client’s budget.

Your chosen ancestor can be one of your parents, or a grandparent (either paternal or maternal). I will need as much information from you as you can supply – a birth or marriage certificate is a good starting point.

Please be aware that it may not always be feasible to trace every one of your ancestors. Reasons for this might be having a common surname, illegitimacy, non-registration of a birth, people changing their names, emigration, as well as records being damaged or missing. If I am unable to follow a particular line you will be asked whether you would like me to transfer the research to a different line, or if you wish to receive a pro-rata refund.
